Four held after major police drugs swoop

POLICE are quizzing four people after raiding eight homes and businesses in a major drugs crackdown across the Reading area today.

Officers swooped on addresses in Lyndhurst Road and Ringwood Road in Tilehurst, North Lodge Mews in Coley, Hatford Road in Southcote, Addington Road in east Reading, Dangaray Lodge in Calcot, Zenith Avenue in Shinfield and a business in Oxford Road at 9.40am.

A 33-year-old man was arrested in Lyndhurst Road on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and money laundering, a 42-year-old was held in Ringwood Road on suspicion of money laundering and a 52-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were picked up in Hatford Road on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Detective Inspector Nick Watts said: "These warrants are part of an investigation into an organised crime group operating in the Reading area.

"Searches are continuing at the properties in question at this time."
